    Mexican soldiers have destroyed four “narco-tanks”, lorries fitted with steel armour thought to have been made for the Gulf drug cartel. The vehicles were seized in a garage in Camargo, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas. Authorities said the cartel used the tanks, fitted with air-conditioning and steel plates, to patrol its smuggling routes and transport drugs to the US. Two of the tanks had already been fitted with armour 2.5cm (1in) thick. Two more lorries were in the process of being fitted with steel plates, and 23 articulated lorries were still awaiting modification.

    Ça me fait penser au cartel qui avait fabriquer leur propre sous-marin.

    "L’engin, long de 30 mètres, équipé d’un périscope et de l’air conditionné, était couvert de marques de camouflage. D’après les spécialistes qui l’ont examiné, le bâtiment était en parfait état de fonctionnement, prêt à livrer illégalement plusieurs tonnes de cocaïne un peu partout dans le monde. Il aurait été construit par l’un des plus grands cartels de Colombie dans cette zone reculée afin d’échapper aux contrôles des brigades antidrogue.
    «C’est la première saisie d’un sous-marin construit clandestinement pour faciliter le transport transocéanique de drogue», explique le communiqué publié par les autorités équatoriennes. «Ce genre de découverte pose un défi à nos propres techniques de sécurité maritime.»
    L’an dernier, l’Equateur a réalisé des saisies record de cocaïne atteignant 64 tonnes, ce qui semble indiquer que ce pays est bel et bien devenu une zone de transit de la drogue produite, notamment, en Colombie.     "
