This past year I have spent most of music time in front of a mess of slightly functional cassette recorders. My current set up is four shoe box style cassette recorders going into four of the six channels of my Tascam PORTA 2. This has aloud me to mix more densely in a live scenario; adding the four tracks recorded to the four recorders coming into the mixer. I am really loving this set up. It is allowing me to realize somethings that I have generally only done digitally with a daw. In many ways this is what the Subversive Intentions project was always meant to be.
What is represented in this album is a dress rehearsal of sorts for a performance I did this summer at Yazz Fest in Vergennes VT. I was asked by Jabe Ledoux (the event organizer) for a sample of what I might do at the show, in order for the folks doing video to coordinate with the performance. This is was a one take of my anticipated set, with only a minimal digital mastering done.
