"Dis qu’t’as tort" is the new project from TAGUBU, in collaboration with KLIMPEREI. This album was created as a reaction against current and rising autocracies and dictatorships, in a world that is not merely transitioning but rather derailing.
In French, "Dis qu’tas tort" phonetically resembles "Dictator", but actually means "Admit you are wrong". This is an oxymoron, as a dictator would never admit being wrong.
This anger is expressed through instrumental tracks—no lyrics or speech are needed to unleash the message. Chaotic drumming, electronic sounds from vintage synthesizers, distorted guitars, and broken structures are more than enough to convey the sentiment.
The idea took root during Donald Trump’s first presidential term. A track titled "Trumpet #1" was created for a digital compilation called "No Trumps", available on Bandcamp: https://inpolysons.bandcamp.com/track/trumpet-1. A few years later, TAGUBU decided to expand it into a full concept album. Drums were recorded first, followed by vintage synthesizers in an improvisational/compositional mode, after which KLIMPEREI added his own touches to the initiated pieces.
Each track is named after autocrats, with pun-based wordplay. You’ll find ironic “tributes” to Putin, Netanyahu, Meloni, Erdogan, Bolsonaro, Xin Pin, el-Assad, and Kim Jong-un.
It’s like spitting out disgust—an outcry from humans trapped in the madness imposed by a small number of inhumane rulers.
