Since 2006, Nebulo has been shaping electronic structures with mobile geometries. In his latest releases for Le Cabanon Records and Conditional, the French composer deepened his work on dynamics by modelling abrupt trajectories where silence clashed with synthetic saturations. For Borders, Nebulo chose to exploit the static temporality of repeated confinements to approach an encompassing musical universe.

Borders is characterised by four long plunges into a vibratory (eco)system where time no longer has a hold. In the manner of Deleuze & Guattari's rhizome, each part unfolds not from a beginning to an end but from a middle through which it grows and overflows. Each synthetic element is a line in the making that builds its own movement through fusion, friction, duplication or partition.

In this album, we find the importance that Nebulo gives to the contrapuntal aspect of his music. The harmony of Borders is discovered in the course of this newfound time, sui generis. It is neither vertically nor horizontally thought out, but could be compared to a dizzying spiral. The patterns follow each other like the flow of waves, like the ebb of metadata. It reveals itself to the listener as if the different strata were folding in on themselves.

Thus, side A can take on telluric and crystalline aspects while side B will evoke more celestial and vaporous spheres while keeping a compositional coherence. In this sense, Nebulo is in line with the figure of the orogene developed by Nora K. Jemisin in her Broken Earth series : a sensitive demiurge who weaves the necessary links that give life and reason to abstract phenomena.
