"Oscillation" was composed for Marimba and Orchestra in the Japanese modern composition style which developed during last part of the 20th century.It received the "Odaka-Prize" in 1980, a prize given to superior orchestral compositions in modern Japan.
Although the work may be rather difficult to understand, the marimba soloist, Michiko Takahashi's performance demonstrates great expression of the inner spirit combined with excellent technique and musicality on every single note, which any percussionist would admire.
